Happy 2020! (+ Brief Update)

Cripes, I’m terrible at this!
Hey everyone, hope y’all are doing well. Another year has gone by and I haven’t kept up with things as well as I would like, so allow me to change that (at least for now).
There’s so much I’ve missed, especially in the last month. Guess life got busy with the holidays and the sort. I‘d like to start by thanking everyone for the birthday wishes earlier in December. They really did mean a lot and made that day feel special. I also hope everyone had both a great Christmas and a wonderful start to the new year.
As far as updates go, not too much has changed. I’m still living at the same apartment and maintaining the same job, now going on 6+ years since August of last year (pfft, last year). Got my two main characters revamped before the end of the year, allowing more focus on other art projects and refining my craft, which is nice.
Keeping this journal semi-short, I’m hoping to have actual artwork and new reference sheets for other characters put up sooner rather than later, depending on if my motivation doesn’t waver.

Hey everyone.
It’s been a while, hasn’t it? Well over a year since the last journal, yeah. Haven’t been around much outside of faving and the occasional post (I’m sorry for that). I’ve missed so many birthdays, anniversaries and the like (Again, sorry for that). It’s been far too long since I’ve updated this journal thing and I thought it was just about due.
Things outside of the online realm are going okay for the most part, and not too much has changed. I’ve calmed down quite a bit with age. Any comments or replies I’ve made haven’t had the same amount of enthusiasm they’ve had (spontaneous silliness, liberal use of exclamation marks, etc.). Not sure if I’m losing interest in things or if I’m simply growing up and becoming more boring as a result of that.
I’ve also moved apartments during this time. …Twice. I rather like the new place - it’s very clean and bright-looking, like a home and not a college dorm. My Camry and laptop were lost to Hurricane Harvey, so that slowed me down in the worst possible ways, though both have been replaced since, so good news there. For the car, I’m now the proud owner of a Ford Escape. The thing is much roomier and at a slightly higher profile which is nice as I feel more secure (and comfortable) in my driving. Sure I miss my Camry, but hey, change is inevitable and I like what I’m driving now. As for the laptop, while it’s still technically operational (as long as it’s plugged into an outlet), it, along with encouragement from my folks, did give me the proper kick in the pants towards finally got a new computer. I’ll now be working on a desktop Mac at the time of this journal. Still a single guy and…well, that’s just okay - not much to say there. Still have a stable job (close to 5 years running by the way), so I’m still able to pay the bills, so yay there. My 11-year-old cat’s become very sickly and has lost much of her weight, but she’s still hanging around seeming to be in good spirits and with plenty of love to share. Art-wise, regrettably, has made little change or desirable progression as I’m still trying to shake off some baggage that just doesn’t seem to want to leave. It’s still very taxing to even pick up a pencil and the once enjoyable past time I hoped to turn into a career is little more than a chore… BUT, even after this all-too-long stagnancy, I’m still hopeful it will turn around. I don’t know where or even how said turn-around will go as the future is far too hazy to tell, but I still sketch here and there, so I’m not completely rusty and it does present itself as a faint glimmer of hope. Who knows?
I guess that’s it for now. Hope to keep in better touch with everyone.

Update Journal 4/29/17

Hey everyone.
Sorry for not updating this thing enough. Hope everybody’s doing alright.
Life-wise, things are okayish here. Put a deposit down for a new apartment, so I’ll be moving in about a month, so I’m excited about that. Current place though is putting me in a financial bind - manageable, just overwhelming. Since I didn’t get a written notice to vacate in far enough in advance, they’re charging me a remittance fee - 80% of my current monthly rate, so that puts a damper on things. Hopefully there’s a chance I can get this mess resolved, but if not, hey, c’est la vie.
On a few lighter notes, I've started picking up guitar again after the greater part of two years. Needless to say, it's going to take a while of practicing to get back to my previous skill level, but it'll happen again. I also got to save a box turtle today. Little (or rather pretty big) guy was wondering across the apartment office parking lot when I drove by it. I park nearby, pick it up and carry it to a nearby body of water, setting it down by the shallow end. It peeks its head out of its shell and takes off like a rocket into the water - my good deed for the day.
Art-wise, I still don’t feel I’m at the skill level I’d like to be. It’s especially bad since my output has dwindled to maybe two or so pics a year, more if I’m lucky, and even then they’re more like simple sketches. I’m wondering though if I should post practice and progress sketches just to show what I’m doing. (Would anyone like to see that as a regular thing? Let me know. ) I’ve also noticed my own five-year anniversary coming up in about nine days. I can’t believe it’s been that long already. Feels like only yesterday I made an account here. For those who stuck around for this long, thank you so so much. And thank you for your patience with my lack of artwork. I really do miss drawing and I really wish I can get my passion back. Well, hopefully I can get it right one of these days. Maybe I can even give doing commissions a try.
